"All That Glitters" Shell Ornaments

I love looking at our Christmas tree with the custom-made ornaments and the ornaments we have collected in our travels. We picked up these shell on one of our Beach trips to North Carolina. Add the glitter allows us to enjoy the beauty of the shell and the lovely memories of the trip every Christmas.

Materials needed: glitter craft paint in gold, silver, bronze, or pearl; clean, dry, light weight sea shells; craft varnish; thin ribbon; 6# fishing line; drill with 5/32" drill bit

Instructions:
    • Make sure your shells are clean and dry.
    • Using the glitter craft paint, paint at least 2 coats on each side of the shells, letting the paint dry between coats.
    • Using clear craft spray varnish, coat both sides of the shells at least twice.
    • After the shells are completely dry, use the 5/32" drill bit to drill a hole near the base of the shell.
    • Thread a 15" piece of fishing line into the hole bringing both ends together.
    • Tie a knot near the shell, and tie another knot at the ends.
    • Hot glue a ribbon bow near the drilled hole.
    • Variation: Add a small sea shell or ornament at the center of the ribbon bow.
