Banned in Little Rock

Banned in Little Rock
Words and music by Stuart Reedy

In the spirit of community we said we’d play the benefit
For local folks who volunteer their time to fight the fires
That threaten life and property in rural Bourbon County
Showing bravery and selflessness to which we all aspire

And when the board met they agreed that it was all in goodness
And music might help everyone enjoy the afternoon
Calls were made and plans were set and we were looking forward
To joinin’ folks in Little Rock and playin’ them some tunes

But when the word got out about our brand of entertainment
Some board members felt that they should get this thing in hand
They held another meeting and they played on local politics
They took a vote and that’s how we were banned

We were banned in Little Rock, Kentucky
We’re not allowed to play our songs there, anymore
Somehow, we can’t keep from feelin’ lucky
So we’ll just keep on playin’ till they throw us out the door

Well we’ve traveled all around and played our music for the people
Enjoying time with lovely folks from here to San Anton’
There’s one more thing we’d like to do, that’s go back to Kentucky
And play for all our friends down in our Bourbon County home

But we were banned in Little Rock, Kentucky
We’re not allowed to play our songs there, anymore
Somehow, we can’t keep from feelin’ lucky
So we’ll just keep on playin’ till they throw us out the door

Well we’re playin’ out in Little Rock and everybody’s smilin’
The food is good and plentiful, the drinks are cold and free
There’s nothing quite like sharing our happiness with others
Our music is our gift to you, we give it joyfully

‘Cause we’re a band in Little Rock, Kentucky
We’ll play a song or two and then we’ll play some more
When we’re jammin’, Lord do we feel lucky
So we’ll just keep on playin’ till they throw us out the door
Yes, we’ll just keep on playin’ till they throw us out the door
We’ll be Kentucky Jammin’ till you throw us out the door
